If your system is running too slow, or you need to sit a long time in front of the system to upload a program, it’s time to optimize your system to make it work normally. A number of reasons like overloading of startup programs, frequent adding or removal of software programs, junk of temporary files, malfunctioning of antivirus programs might result in system slowdown. You need to optimize the system by deleting unwanted files and programs from the system, upgrading the hardware, limiting the runtime, stopping the functioning of automatic start up programs etc. You can also improve system performance by reducing the size of recycle bin, turning screen saver off, turning hibernation off etc.
- Remove temporary files
- Defragment the hard drive
- Limit the number of startup programs
Remove temporary files
You need to remove temporary files to make your system run faster. The clutter of temporary files will increase when you add or remove programs frequently. The Internet browsing history, cookies, etc might also pile up. You need to remove all these unwanted files regularly to make your system run smoothly.
Defragment the hard drive
Fragmented files cause slower performance. You can use Windows Defragmenter to reorganize your system data. Windows includes a Disk Defragmenter program to place all your files back together again and make them quicker to open. This will increase system efficiency.
You need to limit the number of startup programs as it consumes a lot of memory and disk space. New systems are packed with lot of programs that might not be useful for customers. These often include trial versions and limited edition versions of programs that you can upgrade to full versions later. If you don’t want such programs just delete them as they might slow down your system.
