Restoration of factory settings through the Operating system.
All Acer laptops have the Acer Recovery Management program installed in the Operating System. You can access this through the start menu and programs. In the programs click on the ‘Restore’ button at the bottom of the dialog box and click the ‘Restore System to factory default’. The process will present a dialog box, click ‘Yes’ to proceed with the restore process. Hit the ‘Start’ tab to start restoration to factory settings.
Boot up from the partition.
Most Acer TravelMate laptops have the operating system installed in one of the partitions of the hard disk. Reboot the system and when the Acer Logo appears hit the combination key of ‘ALT+F10’. Once this key is entered on the system the factory recovery should start automatically on the system. Sometimes the partition in which the operating system is stored may be hidden; this would be automatically detected on the system when you press ALT and F10 together.
While restoring the system back to the factory settings a few things must be remembered. You must back up all the data that needs to be used for later. You could store all the information like important files, documents and other programs on secondary storage media such as CD, DVD and secondary hard drives or flash drives. This data can be restored later into the system. Also, before saving data on external source, run a virus check so that no malware or virus is stored along with the data.
