According to sources, Taiwanese brand Acer has announced that it will launch a new 15-inch ultrabook made of fiberglass case in the next few months. Reports have it that the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) company Pegatron has already started production of ultrabooks for Acer.
Acer has reported that it plans to ship 100,000 units of the new ultrabooks monthly, which is relatively large compared to the normal range of shipment i.e. 30,000 and 50,000. Pegatron targeted to ship 18 millions notebooks but due to the high demand from Acer, it hopes to increase its shipment further more.
The global sale of ultrabooks is expected to increase this year with the launch of Intel’s Ivy Bridge processor in the second quarter and Windows 8 in the third or fourth quarter.
Pegatron reported that the company is working to launch the new 15-inch Acer ultrabook in April or May, which coincides with the release of Intel’s processor Ivy Bridge. So, there can be chances that the new Acer ultrabook can be loaded with Intel Ivy Bridge processor. However, there is no confirmation yet.
