It seems Acer is making big strategies to make its business bloom. Apparently, the corporation is laying more focus upon the booming tablet market since as of now the tablets are only available in extreme price range of low and high. Acer plans to launch a whole new series of tablets in the mid-range segment to cater to a vast and niche segment.
According to Acer chairman JT Wang, “there is a huge untapped market in the mid-range category of tablets that is relatively untouched – those priced in the $300 – $500 range. Wang went on record to say that according to their estimates, there is the potential to ship between 10 million to 20 million mid-range tablets in 2012.”
Acer is planning to release four new models this year in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, all offered at highly competitive prices of $650-$800 and even lesser range. The major reason for such a step is the tough competition between notebooks and tablets.
