Acer and Lenovo are about to launch a new range of tablets in the third quarter of 2012. These tablets will have Windows 8 as their operating system.
The tablet market was at its peak in the year 2011. One witnessed the launch of some major tablets like iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab, which did very well and sold like hot cakes. On the other hand, many other tablets that were launched did not enjoy the same amount of success. HP witnessed a major tablet crisis with the discontinuation of the company's TouchPad range. These ups and downs, however, didn't affect many tech giants since they are still trying hard to make it to the top.
Microsoft and Intel are two gigantic names that didn't feature in the tablet market last year. However, they are coming to make it big in the tablet domain this year. As per the latest reports, Lenovo and Acer will be launching Wintel tablets in the third quarter of 2012.These tablets will use Intel Clover Trial platform and Windows 8. Intel will also disclose its Medfield processor for the tablets during the first half of 2012.
Although Acer and Lenovo did introduce their segment of Android OS tablets in 2011, they couldn't fare well. The new range of tablets will be loaded with Windows 8, the first version of Windows that has been designed to work on both mobile as well as traditional computing platforms.
The Medifield Processor from Intel Will also be unveiled at the CES (Consumer Technology Tradeshow 2012) for a preview. A major reason behind the popularity of Midfield is it comprises ARM-based processors that consume less power and perform better than normal.
This is another great effort by both Acer and Lenovo to boost their tablet sales by introducing Windows 8 tablets Page along with Intel Clover Trail platform.
