Issues that can lead to reinstallation
You might need to reinstall Windows due to a virus infection, hardware failure, major hardware changes or a hard drive upgrade. Whatever the reason may be, you can do reinstallation yourself at home. The reinstall will take anywhere between two to three hours, depending on the size of your hard drive.
Take Backup of all your important files
Be aware that reinstalling Windows will format your hard drive. It will get rid of all data on your hard drive, so you should take backup of all data on a removable media device. File backup avoids important files from being permanently lost if they are deleted upon reinstallation.
After taking backup of all your important data, insert the Windows installation disk and restart your computer. Press any key when prompted to start running the disk. Agree to the terms and conditions specified in it and then choose the partition you wish to reinstall Windows on. Choose the type of format, either ‘Quick’ or ‘Full’ for NTFS systems. A quick format only takes a few minutes less than the full format. Wait for the format to get completed. The Windows installation wizard will start and you will be asked to choose the computer name, time zone, and to enter any network information.
