Role of optical drive
The optical drive of the notebook is used to read the data from discs such as CD, DVD, and Blu-ray. The optical drive of Acer Aspire can do several of these functions depending on the type of underlying hardware. If the drive can read as well as write data, than the optical drive must have the capability to be a CD burner or a reader. The data can be written into compact disc, DVD or even Blu-ray disc depending on the underlying hardware of the notebook.
Hardware not found
An issue that usually comes up with the optical drive is that the operating system sometimes fails to detect the disc. This can only happen when there is fault in the hardware of the system. Hardware issues can be due to damage in the cable connected to the drive. To rectify this issue, the drive must be removed from the system and the cable must be replaced.
If the driver fails to read or write the data on the optical disc, it may be because it has got corrupted. A simple method by which this could be resolved is by reinstalling or updating the device drivers of the system. The device drivers for the Acer Aspire notebook can be downloaded from the Internet and upgraded. This would help in proper functioning of the driver.
